Connect with the Computer/Electronic Accommodations Program (CAP)

CAP is a Department of Defense (DoD) program that provides AT and employment support services to DoD employees and active-duty service members with disabilities and/or injuries and limitations. CAP provides AT and services to support the following disability categories: dexterity, blind/low vision, cognition, communication, and deaf/hard of hearing.

CAP will be present at ATIA 2024 for 1-1 meetings and product demo opportunities. ATIA members should take advantage of understanding how to have your AT products become part of the CAP procurement list.

Please note all meeting slots are full. We encourage you to make contact directly with the CAP team at booth 109.

Meet NASA and Learn about its Technology Transfer Program

NASA has curated a selection of patented technology created for space missions that could spur the next generation of AT. NASA’s Technology Transfer Program has a long history of contributing to this field including cochlear implants, low vision devices, and mobility rehabilitation equipment.

Here’s your chance to connect with NASA leaders in Orlando! The NASA Tech Transfer team will hold 1-1 meetings with licensing managers from multiple NASA centers. These patent portfolio experts will be ready to answer questions about the technologies, the licensing process, potential industry applications, and more.

Join the Eye Gaze Standards Working Group

ATIA has a request to support a standards working group that will focus on eye gaze technology and how third-party developers interact with various eye gaze systems. For this effort to be successful, input from a wide variety of players in the eye gaze development space is required.

Jay Beavers from Tolt Technologies will host an initial meeting on Thursday,  January 25, at 1 p.m. in the Tampa Room. This group is open to ATIA members and non-members. You must be part of the development community with some interest in eye gaze technology participate.

Overarching goal of this group:

This working group will collaborate on the process by which Microsoft Windows eye gaze aware applications can recognize, cooperate, and interact with each other. As a novel technology which does not have established interoperability semantics guidelines. Interaction patterns are needed to ensure an integrated outcome for users of eye gaze systems who have multiple products from different authors and companies installed on the same device.

Lunchtime Listening Session: National Instructional Materials Access Center (NIMAC)

Does your work involve you in some way with NIMAS files? On Friday, January 26, the National Instructional Materials Access Center (NIMAC) will be hosting a lunchtime Listening Session to gather stakeholder input on potential changes to the NIMAS specification. If your company is involved in the production, conversion, or utilization of NIMAS, we’d like to invite you to join us for what we hope will be a lively and engaging discussion. A box lunch will be provided for the first 30 participants, but RSVP is required. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Liz Schaller at eschaller@aph.org.

Please note the following opportunity is not specific to ATIA 2024, however, we wanted to make you aware.

Directory of AT Device Vendors

The Association of Assistive Technology Act Programs (ATAP), a national member-based non-profit organization representing State and Territory Assistive Technology (AT) Act Programs, is seeking to collaborate with the AT industry to build a comprehensive directory of AT Device Vendors. This comprehensive directory will be available for AT Act Programs to use as a resource to build their device libraries which are used to service consumers in the respective state and territory they serve.

AT Act Programs are federally funded and are required to maintain a current inventory of assistive technology for their device demonstrations and device loan libraries. To discuss collaborating with ATAP, please contact Jamie Anderson at Jamie.anderson@ataporg.org.
