Volume 19 Theme: AT Innovations for Education, Employment, and Independent Living
As the world is taken by storm by new technology developments, Volume 19 of the Assistive Technology Outcomes & Benefits (ATOB) journal will highlight the latest innovations in assistive technology in education, employment, and independent living for individuals with various abilities and needs across the lifespan. A wide range of technological innovations (e.g., artificial intelligence, wearable devices, robotics, etc.) open the doors for individuals with disabilities to participate and succussed within and across those domains. The authors are encouraged to explore and conceptualize new ways in which these emerging tools may be making a difference for the users with disabilities. In turn, we do not limit this volume to expensive and/or high-tech tools. Innovative uses of low-tech devices are also welcome. Finally, submissions are not limited to AT devices. The authors may choose to describe how innovative technologies are being used for providing high-quality and timely AT services.
In this volume, we seek to feature current research studies and insightful descriptions from users that showcase the power of new technologies in fostering inclusive and meaningful environments for individuals with disabilities. We invite authors to submit Voices from Academia, Voices from Industry, and/or Voices from the Field that focus on the outcomes and benefits of these innovations as well as their potential to transform lives. We welcome researchers, practitioners, and users from around the world to share their experiences in navigating this new rapidly evolving reality, including challenges and ethical considerations. Let’s start the dialogue about the future of AT!
