This webinar will explore and demonstrate various Chrome extensions that can be used to assist individuals with reading, writing and more. Students often struggle with keyboarding, spelling, organization of thoughts, reading material, translating material into their native language and many other areas of the curriculum. Some of the extensions can also assist teachers in providing students their testing accommodations. Also, through these extensions, a teacher can make their classroom virtually paperless making things easier for student and teacher.

Learning Objectives

  1. Participants will be able to identify one extension for reading and one for writing in the Chrome Browser.
  2. Participants will be able to identify one extension that will allow students to access PDF’s and annotate the document.
  3. Participants will be able to identify at least 2 extensions that will assist students in customizing their browser to meet their learning needs.


Donna Schneider

Assistive Technology Specialist/Special Education Teacher
Donna Schneider is an educator with 31 years of teaching experience in K-12 Special Education . She currently is the Assistive Technology Specialist in the Brewster, NY Schools and is also a teacher in the Life Skills Work Center. In her role as an AT Specialist, Donna trains teachers, support staff, parents and students on the use of technology to meet learning needs. In her role as a Life Skills teacher she works with high school students in various stages of their education in a PAES Lab that works on vocational skills to help students gain skills for meaningful employment and transition into the adult world.

Donna has conducted several webinars for ATIA over the past 4 years on various ways to use the iPad with individuals. She also has presented at several conferences including ATIA 2014, and is a member of the several boards that deal with assisting disabled individuals accessing their world. Donna is involved with beta testing several apps for the iPad from various developers. She is also the owner of iteachitech that provides training and workshops for parents, teachers and students.
