This course contains a range of topics pertaining to personal automotive mobility solutions. It will assist the allied health care practitioner in understanding and advocating for individuals seeking automotive vehicle modification solutions, while also teaching practitioners about the unique process involved in evaluating and purchasing appropriate automotive options.

Learning Objectives

  1. Participants will be able to understand and identify the unique process involved in researching, evaluating, selecting and purchasing automotive mobility solutions.
  2. Participants will identify and differentiate the pros and cons of various common automotive mobility solutions for accessible vehicles and adaptive equipment.
  3. Participants will identify and list valuable resources to assist patients/consumers/clients in the available automotive transportation options.
  4. Participants will understand and list the negative ramifications consumers/patients/clients may face with poor awareness about this unique process in the automotive mobility arena.

The Ralph Braun Foundation
Andrea Vrobel, COTA, LMSW, CDRS, is the Executive Director of The Ralph Braun Foundation. She joined this nonprofit organization in July 2014 in order to share her passion of helping individuals with disabilities improve their quality of life. Andrea became a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) 17 years ago and throughout those years she worked with older adult populations, home health care patients, and adults with developmental disabilities. She completed her Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree in 2005, followed by her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree in 2007. She began her career in driver rehabilitation at Easter Seals Crossroads in 2008, receiving her certification as a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS) in 2009. She spent five years in the driver rehabilitation program with this amazing organization, during which time she gained a strong understanding of the financial difficulties many individuals and families face. This journey led her to her current position with The Ralph Braun Foundation, allowing her to promote mobility freedom for those who need it most.
Andrea has been a member of The Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (ADED) since 2008. She is also a member of the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) Education and Training Committee.
